“You know, I don’t like blues, but I like this!”
(often overheard when people first hear Angel)
Angel Forrest is a force of nature, a self-described poster child for “Never give up.” For her 2014 Forest Festival debut Angel and her band woke up very early in Riviere de Loup, Quebec (think New Brunswick border) drove non-stop and delivered an incendiary show in our Logging Museum that night. Where does energy like that come from? We don’t know, but it has resulted in her churning out great songs with her partner Denis Coulombe, being voted Canada’s top blues vocalist 4 years running, and regularly winning Maple Blues Awards.
Angel’s is a powerful and gritty voice, but with a soft side too. If a song is sexy and has an edge, she is interested. She and Denis often work in an acoustic/semi acoustic setting, and this is how she will present herself for us this time, showing another side of her talent but with the same boundless energy. Be warned! This is going to one sweaty, fully energized night of blues. She doesn’t know any other way.
