Hilario Duran is simply the hottest instrumental jazz property in Canada right now. One of the premier exponents of Latin Jazz in his native Cuba, Hilario’s Latin Jazz Big Band album, From The Heart , featuring Paquito D’Rivera was nominated for a 2007 Grammy and won a Contemporary Jazz Album Juno. Hilario’s trio features two of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, Roberto Occhipinti on bass and Mark Kelso on drums, and has been busy accumulating Juno awards (the second on the day Hilario became a Canadian citizen) and over a dozen National Jazz Awards. Hilario Durán has performed at many prestigious festivals (Montreux, Paris, Nice, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Chicago, Havana and North Sea jazz festivals). Hilario’s trio will be touring Canada, the US and internationally in 2010 in support of its new release, Motion.
