It was a dark and stormy night. You huddled in winter clothes and blankets, clutching umbrellas. Bone Lake had never seen such bad weather in August. You wondered if the show would be cut short. You wondered if it would start at all.
But a miracle was about to happen. Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor took the stage. They played a couple of songs without comment. When wind started blowing cold rain across the stage at a 45-degree angle Greg finally spoke, introducing their third song saying, “This is a song about the shittiest show we’ve ever played … and it’s not this one.” HUGE laughter! From that moment everyone relaxed and simply accepted that this would be one weird and wonderful concert. The weather never improved but they played long into the night and did 3 encores. Not a single audience member left. For a week afterwards our staff fielded calls from people saying what a fabulous and memorable night it had been. No one present that night will ever forget it.
Jim won’t have Greg with him this time around, but he will have guitarist Colin Cripps and our very own Anne Lindsay, on violin. Better plan on coming. We hear the weather’s going to be gorgeous.
