Susan Aglukark has become a major recording star in Canada with her blend of country/pop songwriting and Inuit folk music traditions. With songs like the infectious "O Siem" (#1 on Canadian country and adult contemporary radio) she and her band are certain to generate enormous excitement on our Bone Lake stage. We think it’s an ideal way to open our Forest Festival season.
Susan has released seven albums and won three JUNOs, among other distinctions including an Order of Canada. The emotional depth and honesty of her lyrics, her pure, clear voice and themes of hope, spirit and encouragement have captivated and inspired listeners from all walks of life. She sees herself as an artist with a universal message of self-respect and strength that she hopes people of all cultural backgrounds can relate to. Her belief in the healing powers of art and music resulted in her creating the Arctic Rose Foundation (http://www.arcticrose.org) to assist youth in Canada’s northern communities.
Twelve years ago, after our very first concert (!) we were treated to a magnificent display of Northern Lights over Bone Lake. We haven’t seen them since, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to have an encore for Susan Aglukark?
